Services Sunday for Corp J. V. Burns


Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Allen's Funeral Home for Cpl. J. V. Burns, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin A. Burns, 229 East Jackson Street. The Rev Earl Carless and the Rev. F. R. Walker will officiate. The members of the Charlton-Polan Post No. 233 will assist at the grave. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery.

Palbearers will be robert Johnson, Burton Hauxwell, Mark Defibaugh, Clare Berger, max Crtis and Lester Bailey.

corporal Burns died while in the service of his country, in the Coast Artillery Corps, Nov 26, 1943, at Guadalcanal. He died as the result of a fractured skull caused by a cocoanut tree falling on him while clearing ground.
